The Walking Dead Season 11 is the Final Show? Check Episodes & Spoiler Info Here

The broadcasters of the famous horror television series The Walking Dead, AMC, have announced that the long run show will wrap up with Season 11. This will indeed be a long journey with 24 episodes to air, which will begin next year. The first 12 will be aired in 2021 while the second half will be bowing in 2022. In addition, there will be some spin-offs of the show.

Due to the difficulties caused by the ongoing pandemic to the filming industry, Season 10 of The Walking Dead was also delayed. It will resume on October 4 with some additional episodes in early 2021.

Asked to comment on the fate of TWD, Showrunner Scott Gimple said. “It’s been 10 years ‘gone bye;’ what lies ahead are two more to come and stories and stories to tell beyond that.”

“What’s clear is that this show has been about the living, made by a passionate cast, team of writers/producers. Producers and crew, bringing to life the vision put forth by Robert Kirkman in his brilliant comic-and supported by the best fans in the world. We have a lot of thrilling stories left to tell on TWD, and then this end will be a beginning of more Walking Dead-brand new stories and characters, familiar faces, and places, new voices, and new mythologies. This will be a grand finale that will lead to new premiers. Evolution is upon us. The Walking Dead Lives.”

Why did TWD end with Season 11?

Sources suggest that the decision of the finale was not entirely of Scott Gimple. AMC decided to end the show, probably due to the lowering audiences.

“You know, that was really more on AMC’s side of the equation… We have a ton of story to get through. And then story beyond that. AMC had a good idea of the space we were working in creatively, and they made a call on it. But to tell you the truth, there’s so much planned.”

What can the audience expect after Season 11?

It is good that the showrunners have decided to wrap up now. The ratings of the show have not been so great since season 6. And it is unclear for how much longer TWD can continue its journey.

According to the showrunners, Season 11 will not be the end of TWD. Several future projects are in mind for them. First in line is the movie adaptation of Rick Grimes written by Scott Gimple. An anthology series “Tales Of The Walking Dead” is also in line. AMC said.

“An episodic anthology with individual episodes focused on new or existing characters, backstories or other stand-alone experiences.” The audience can expect the return of Glenn, Abraham and Shane.  A spin-off is also set to release in 2023 after The Walking Dead finale.
