Maniyarayile Ashokan Story
To put simply, the movie speaks about society’s beliefs on marriage. Ashokan is definitely someone every Indian can relate to: He is not tall, is dark-skinned and is a government employee. He is not sharp looking like his friend. His physical appearance is the one thing that makes it more difficult to find a bride. It is evident when he is humiliated for his appearance by the girl, he first seeks a marriage proposal. Ashokan’s character also seemed to be influenced by the Sreenivasan movie Vadakkunokkiyanthram in which he faces trouble to find a bride because of his appearance. Still, he manages to find someone beautiful who is according to society, way out of his league. This is also the case with Ashokan.
