Amazon has planned to go forward with a television series, a reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer, set in 1997. As per the reports, it will be a young adult remake. The original film was based on the book of the same name by Lois Duncan. There are two sequels to the film. The first is, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer of 1998 and another is I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer of 2016. Sara Goodman has taken the responsibility to write and executive produce the series for Amazon.

Jim Gillespie has directed the original slasher film while Neal H. Moritz, Erik Feig and Stokely Chafin had produced it. It is the story of a teenager group who were being chased by the murderer. The plot will be almost the same as the film but still, there would be various changes. As it is being renewed for a series from the film.

The original series was starring Jennifer Love Hewitt as Julie James, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Helen Shivers, Ryan Phillippe in the role of Barry Cox, Freddie as Ray Bronson, Bridgette Wilson as Elsa Shivers, Muse Watson as Ben Willis and many others. Still, we can’t give you our words on casting as there is no announcement about the same.
According to the reports, the names of characters may be the same but it’s not clear who is returning to portray them. Sony Pictures Television Studios Co-President, Jason Clodfelter said in a press conference that they are touched to hold I Know What you Did Last Summer with their unimaginable partners at Amazon Studios.
Co-Head of Television Albert Cheng and COO of Amazon Studio said, one of the best terrible franchise is ready with one other horror. They added they are coming with Sara Goodman for the updated version of I Know What You Did Last Summer. The original film did really well at the box-office and had a great collection.
As of 2019, I Know What You Did Last Summer obtains the sixth place as the highest-grossing film. Now you can have an idea about the popularity of the film. Though, the film received mixed reviews positive and negative by the critics. But the audience could resist themselves to praise it. We hope the instalment as the show would become successfully hit.
